To get to the Pistol Range: After entering the gate, travel straight ahead about 300 yards to the parking area near the rifle range. The pistol range is located to the left of the warm-up shed on the left side of the rifle range.
The pistol range is an open bay area approximately 20 yards wide and 50 yards long. Portable target stands are used on the pistol range and can be set at any distance from the covered firing line. (See button below for how to set up a target stand.) The covered firing line features eight firing points and is accessible to the warm-up shed in case of inclement weather.
The pistol range is generally unsupervised except during Action Pistol practice and other training activities or when the range is reserved for other groups for training and qualification. (See the calendar for when the range is reserved or call the Rangemaster for the most current updates.)
Any caliber of handgun, rifle or shotgun is permitted on the pistol range but shooters must use care that all shots hit the impact berm, not the floor of the range nor over the berm. Set target stands so the target is at a height to insure bullets hit the berm after passing through the target.
No trash targets like tin cans, water jugs, frying pans, or other such target are permitted. Use only approved targets on an approved target stand. If in doubt, check it out with the Rangemaster or an experienced pistol shooter.
Safety is our most important concern. Communication between shooters is vital to safe enjoyment of your pistol shooting experience. Make sure other shooters have unloaded their firearms and have placed them on the bench with the actions open before going down range to check your targets. Be aware that special safety rules are employed for certain special activities and shooters must yield to the activity leader for when it is safe to go down range. Refer to our Range Rules posted at the range and available by clicking the button below.
Pick up your spent cases and put into the buckets or cans provided and pack out your garbage and used targets. Dismantle and put the target stands away when finished.
